Areas of Expertise Contact WoW!

We have worked in a wide range of industries, enabling the blending of the best practices from each for more robust solutions to your challenges. With over 30 years of experience, you can be sure of tried-and-true wisdom that can help avoid pitfalls that less seasoned engineers may stumble into.

Aerospace Components

Aerospace is a different world than general and even automotive industries. Attention to detail of specifications, metallurgy, and methods must be heeded. Our experience is more concentrated in stationary engine housings with occasional rotating parts.

  • Tooling design for flash butt welded engine components made from: I-718, R-41, Ti 6-4, Hast-X, Hanes, etc.
  • Hydroforming, bending, welding, and shaping tools of said components
  • Engineering and machine design of material handling, clamping/fixturing equipment for production parts
  • Data analysis of metallurgical mechanical testing for better understanding of process variables
  • Lean and Six-Sigma analysis to optimize part material stock, process mapping and time studies to eliminate wasteful actions and mfg cell layouts

Closed Die Forgings

Forging is a mix of science and art. In concept, it can be simplified to getting the right amount of material where you need it when you need it. We can help you understand and work with the factors involved in achieving that desired result. Aluminum forging presents different challenges than steel. Understanding its limitations can make or break an acceptable part. From alloys to machinery, controlling the input factors as a system is crucial for quality assurance.

  • Experience with screw type and mechanical forge presses
  • Tool families include bump, heading, bend, block, finish, trim, coin
  • Variety of heating methods including gas-fired, induction, and IR
  • Aqueous graphite lubricants. Lube science is the most overlooked factor in a forging operation.

Part and Tooling Design for a Variety of Families

  • Armament receivers
  • Scopes
  • Levers
  • Archery bows
  • Valve bodies
  • Fan blades
  • Automotive shaft yokes
  • Shock absorber bodies
  • Trackbars
  • Control arms
  • Aerospace landing gear components
  • Door hinges
  • Control yokes

Parts made from a wide range of materials such as 2024, 6061, 6082, 7075, C37700

Injection Molded Plastics

With over $400 billion in this sector and a strong growth forecast, remaining competitive and profitable is a worthy challenge. Material science in plastics has pushed part capabilities to new heights, sometimes rivalling metals. Our experience with part and tooling design, including machine engineering, will benefit your process and throughput.

  • Part design involving threads, reflectors, snaps, bosses, ribs, etc.
  • Tooling design with features of: KO's, screw and cam actions, vents, hot/cold runners
  • Material familiarity with: Polypropylene, TPV, Nylon 6, Polycarbonate, ABS, Polystyrene

Structural Fabrications and Sheet-metal

Steel is the most versatile material with over 3,000 alloys and each one designed for specific applications. Even a metallurgist would spend a lifetime trying to master them all. We've concentrated knowledge of this behemoth industry to more common materials often used in industrial settings such as machine frames, scaffold and platforms, and machine guarding designed to protect workers.

  • Structural design of platforms, trailer frames, and machine frames which are subject to various environments
  • Detailed stress and vibrational analyses, including working load limits of components and assemblies to ensure safe usage for the life of the structure
  • Sheet-metal enclosures for guarding and sound dampening
  • OSHA regulations are considered during design phase and implemented for maximum safety
  • Detailed drawings and parts lists to facilitate assembly and fabrication
  • When to weld or when to use aluminum erector sets
  • Most used materials include A36, 308 stainless, carbon or stainless sheet, expanded metal

We can fabricate smaller frames and deliver to you!
